Carlei
wines are single vineyard wines made only in exceptional years, using
fruit from very low yielding dry grown vineyards. As a result, they
express the unique ‘terroir’ of each individual site; a combination of
climate, soil and aspect that results in each wine having an individual
personality. These are only available in very small quantities and are
highly sought after. The wine is deep crimson in the glass. The bouquet is complex savoury brown spice, truffle and black pepper on the nose with complimentary fruits of dark blackberry, plums, and ripe cherries with a lifted violet note. This is a powerful wine with typical earthiness and chewy, fleshy texture. The finish is persistent with fine tannins and a fabulous balanced acidity.
