Indigo Secret Village Shiraz, Beechworth - Victoria

The story behind the name 'secret village' dates back to 1875 when the Hon. GB Kerferd, then premier of Victoria decided to extend the railway to Beechworth where he was from and had been mayor in 1863. In order to build the railway a village was set up at Big Hill to house all of the workers. The secret village was on the Indigo property.

This wine was made with grapes grown on the Indigo Vineyard located in the foothills of the Victorian Alps. The vineyard is hidden in the back block of the property. The cool climate elevation of the vineyard with a 'terroir' that varies from granite to clay loams, combined with meticulous winemaking has produced a wine of great elegance and complexity.
