Knowing that there would be no new Barolo released in the 2002 vintage, winemaker Sergio Molino decided to hold back the
very best cask of 2000 Barolo Preda and let it continue to age "in
botte," to be released in 2006 as a Riserva. The result is this wine,
which Mr Molino promises will evolve to be the greatest wine Cascina
Adelaide has yet released to date. It still requires some more time in
bottle before it can really be fully evaluated, but already you can
taste the rich, sweet core of fruit, which persists for an incredibly
long time in the mouth, along with an outer "shell" of tannins that will
give it structure to age for 20 years or more.
