Zitta, the Italian word for ‘quiet’, is dedicated to using natural techniques with minimal inputs, to capture the essence of the Estate’s amazing fruit resource. Angelo De Fazio, winemaker and owner, understands each individual patch of his vineyard. Nothing is rushed – wines are released only when they’re considered ready. Zitta boasts a very impressive range of museum release wines as a result.

Fruit for the Zitta range comes exclusively from de Fazio’s vineyard in the Barossa’s highly regarded sub-region of Greenock. The vineyard itself was established in 1864 by colonial land settlers, and Zitta’s wines reflect the balance and self-assuredness of the 150 year-old vines. Each vintage reflects the unique characteristics of the sub-appellation of the northwest Barossa Valley and the growing season in which the wine was produced.

The wine is dense red-black in colour. Inviting aromatics leap from the glass. Perfume, violets, cinnamon spice and fruit cake abound with a hint of chocolate. The palate is bright with red and black fruits. Mouth-filling and juicy, this is a very tasty wine. The fruit is foremost, with subtle background barrel maturation characters adding complexity. Tannins are fine and lightly drying, adding structure and mouth-feel. A medium to full-bodied wine of excellent balance. A lingering finish completes a very enjoyable wine that can be drunk now or cellared in the medium term.
