First introduced to Rutherglen by renowned viticulturist and winemaker Francis DeCastella in the early 1900’s. Durif thrives in Rutherglen’s warm continental climate producing powerful, persistent full bodied wines that explode with varietal Durif fruit. The characters are BIG and BOLD.

Cofield Essence Durif is dark plum in colour with ruby highlights. With aromas of blackberry, violets and aniseed. On the palate it is a rich, intense full-bodied wine with rhubarb and blackberry, fruit savoury spice, pepper & dark chocolate oak flavours. The tannins are firm but integrated. The wine has great length and displays true Durif character.
