The William Randell range of wines was created in honour of Thorn Clarke family ancestor Captain William Richard Randell (1824 – 1911) who at the age of 28, and without any prior experience, designed and commissioned a vessel that would become the first paddle steamer on the Murray River. These wines embody William’s bold, pioneering spirit and are sourced solely from grapes grown on our estate vineyards.

Thorn Clarke William Randell Shiraz is a classic Barossa Shiraz. Deep, rich, and powerful, it is a fantastic example of the region’s specialty variety. The colour is a dark, almost impenetrable red-purple, with vibrant red highlights at the rim of the glass. The nose is lifted and intense, with complimentary blackberry, black cherry and spice and gentle smoky oak complexity. The palate is dense and opulent with flavours of ripe mulberry, berry compote and liquorice, paired with well-integrated oak notes. The tannins are savoury and persistent, adding structure and depth to the wine, while the finish is plush and spicy, leaving a lasting and memorable impression.
